Finding Calm Through the Body

When we feel anxious, our bodies often carry the weight of our worries — in tight muscles, shallow breathing, and restless energy. Physiotherapy can gently support people with anxiety by helping them reconnect to their breath, release physical tension, and move towards a calmer, more balanced state. Through thoughtful exercises and relaxation techniques, physiotherapy offers a safe space where healing happens not just in the body, but in the mind as well.
A Simple Breathwork Relaxation Tool: “The 4-6 Breath”

This easy breathing technique helps calm the nervous system and bring a sense of ease:
Find a comfortable seated or lying position.
Close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Breathe in gently through your nose for a count of 4.
Exhale slowly and fully through your mouth for a count of 6.
Repeat this cycle for 5–10 rounds, letting your breath be smooth and unforced.
Each longer exhale signals to your body that it is safe to relax. Over time, this simple practice can help ease feelings of anxiety and create a quiet space of calm within you.
